The adapters to transition to the in/out ports on the heat pump use O-rings to seal. If you put too much torque on the fittings the O-rings extrude out the sides and it leaks. You can gently apply just enough torque to get a seal without over squeezing the O-rings but then the fitting is loose and moves around when you attach the hose. I was able to get it all to work but if the hoses get disturbed, which happens more than you might think, the fittings leak again and need re-tweaked.
I think using washers rather than O-rings would solve the problem. Going to try using extra Intex washers that come with other hoses. But right now the whole system is connected and pressurized so going to wait till other work is needed, like a filter change.
